DayZ standalone alpha on its way

23 May 2013

The standalone edition of DayZ is getting an alpha, and it will be made available to the public in June 2013.

Announced by project creator Dean “Rocket” Hall, the game has seen some serious advancements since its birth as a ARMA 2 mod.

The new loot spawn system can generate loot in some interesting nooks and crannies, and requires players to really look and traverse around to gather the resources they need.

There are also new locations in the game, particularly an island that featured in ARMA 2, which was highly requested by the community.

It was also previously revealed that the Day Z standalone will be getting weekly content updates, including clothing and weapon items.

There are a bunch of other new additions, and you can check out the dev blogs from the team that give more insight into the progress of the DayZ standalone.
