Heavy Gear Assault

Remember Heavy Gear? The Activision mech game that had its heyday in the 90’s is looking to get rebooted thanks to a Kickstarter campaign.

Heavy Gear: Assault will use the Unreal Engine 4 to bring some shiny visuals and great effects to the Heavy Gear universe.

Stompy Bot Productions are the team behind the Kickstarter initiative, and aim to feature e-Sports elements, single-player episodes, dynamic combat, customisation, and social interaction to the Heavy Gear universe.

The team consists of some great talent, including Jack Mamais, who worked as a lead designer on Crysis, Far Cry, and the previous Heavy Gear games. The game will also feature Oculus Rift Support.

“Heavy Gear is the perfect game for Oculus because Pilots in the HG universe actually wear VR Helmets. We are currently working on gameplay concepts which incorporate the Oculus and the uniqueness of the HG lore,” the team elaborated on the Kickstarter page.

The campaign currently has over $30,000 of its $800,000 goal, with 32 more days to go.
