Geforce GTX770 SA price roundup

In this article we take a look at who has stock of Nvidia’s latest, the GTX770. It launched only a week ago, but is already selling well in the UK, Europe, the United States and Canada.

The GTX770 is, for all practical purposes, a better GTX680. Its faster than the GTX680 and the AMD Radeon HD7970 GHz Edition, overclocks to higher levels, has a better GPU Boost implementation, and the memory is clocked stratospherically high out of the box. No other graphics card on the market can claim a 7.0GHz stock memory clock for a generally-available, commercially-shipping product. Most cards will also reach 8.0GHz on the memory without too much hassle.

The downside, however, is that the GTX770 does not qualify for Nvidia’s Metro: Last Light bundle. For the moment Nvidia doesn’t bundle the new Geforce 700 series cards with any games, relying instead on the fact that they’re faster than their predecessors to help sell them.

The table below shows the prices of various Geforce GTX770 cards available from local retailers. The lowest prices are highlighted in Bold. For the purposes of this table, prices for products that are listed as “Sold out”, “Contact for availability” or “Special order” will be included, as these are general pricing indications for the cards.

For a card that’s only a week old, there is some choice for consumers if you want one today. The Gigabyte version with the Windforce 3x cooler is the best pick out of the lot, as it stays consistently ahead of the Radeon HD7970 GHz Edition, which is its main competition.

In a similar price range there are also cards available from MSI and ASUS. These are also capable of the same high clocks that the reference GTX770 models are capable of and, as a bonus, they run cooler and quieter as well. The MSI would look great paired with one of their Gaming-series motherboards, and MSI is the only company that actually matches their designs  – black and yellow, and black and red are a great choice.
