Sapphire releases 4GB overclocked HD 5970

2 March 2010

Graphics card manufacturer Sapphire claims that it has the fastest graphics card in the world in the form of the overclocked AMD HD 5970 which sports a monstrous 4GB of onboard memory.

The regular HD 5970 essentially packs the processing power of two HD 5870s onto one board. The HD 5870 is in itself a force to be reckoned with, and is credited with being the fastest single GPU graphics card in the world. Some would say that just putting two of these puppies onto board is overkill, but Sapphire has gone ahead and upped the ante by overclocking them and adding an extra 2GB of RAM.

The card comes equipped with a specialised triple fan cooling solution,  and is clocked at 850MHz on the GPU and 1200MHz on the memory.

Some other manufacturers may also release an overclocked HD 5970 with 4GB of RAM, although at this point Sappire is the only company with a working model on show.
