Microsoft has responded to the Xbox One launch date that appeared on Amazon, which listed a 27 November release date for the next-gen console.

“We have not informed our retail partners about a specific launch date for the Xbox One,” said Microsoft. “It is commonplace for retailers to put placeholder dates and prices into their system until they are given a specific date and price. We are excited to release the Xbox One in November 2013.”

It’s still incredibly likely that the console could release on that exact day, just under a month before Christmas day, but it seems like Microsoft wants to remain quiet for a little while longer.

In other console release date news, a prominent German tech retailer, Media Markt, featured a promotional in-store poster for the PS4, showing a 13 November release date.
