Rugby Challenge 2 SA update

For those rugby fans who’ve picked up Rugby Challenge 2 and are still battling with the fact that the South African franchises don’t feature the authentic names and rosters, a local gamer has put together a solution.

Rugby Challenge forum member Cobusscooby has created save files which updates the rosters and statistics of the South African teams, Durban, Pretoria, PE, Cape Town and Bloemfontein, to resemble the Sharks, Bulls, Kings, Stormers, and Cheetahs respectively; along with the Springboks.

The sliders for the gameplay elements were also tweaked to create a more authentic gameplay style.

“This update will make the forwards a bit slower (as in real life) and the backs faster as they should be. Also, player ages are now correct for those playing career modes, so your young players don’t retire in career mode with an incorrect being the problem,” explained Cobusscooby.

There are instructions and details on how to install the Xbox 360 version and the PS3 version updates.

The image above is also from Rugby Challenge forum members Cain, who has also customised many of the South African players to resemble their real-life counterparts, and is releasing an update soon.

Rugby Challenge 2: British and Irish Lions Tour Edition’s released on 14 June 2013 to the joy of rugby fans everywhere.

The game features an expanded and improved multi-career mode, along with core improvements to the gameplay, such as the addition of quick taps, quick lineouts, mauls from lineouts, interceptions, contesting ball at the breakdown, removing players from the ruck, number 8 scrum pickups, and dynamic in game team strategies on both attack and defence.

In addition to the gameplay tweaks, more customisation, and commentary options were added.
