Afrihost has unveiled its first mobile data product – a 5GB package for R145 per month. The product offers 2GB of standard data, with another 3GB of free data, at an effective rate of R29 per GB.

Afrihost explained that the “2GB + 3GB data package” will be available to subscribers until February 2014, after which a decision will be made on whether to keep it or change the product.

Afrihost is also doing away with out-of-bundle charges by capping users after they reach their monthly usage limit. Users who get capped can top up at R99 per GB.

“From the 20th of August, Afrihost clients will exclusively be able to sign up via pre-order, as a public offer will not be made until the commercial launch on 3rd of September,” Afrihost said.

Afrihost will be offering the first 1000 users who pre-order the product a MiFi Device worth approximately R1,000 free of charge.

Afrihost further promises painless RICA verification. “We’ll bring RICA to you. All mobile data products can be easily managed in ClientZone, in the same familiar way as existing DSL data products,” said Afrihost.

Afrihost will be launching a range of additional products and devices on the 3rd of September at which point anyone will be able to sign up.
