Battle.net will Integrate with Facebook

6 May 2010

Battle.net will be integrated with Facebook, Blizzard has announced via press release, “linking the world’s premier online gaming platform with the world’s most popular social platform. The first step in the integration will enable StarCraft® II: Wings of Liberty players to quickly add Blizzard gamers who are friends on Facebook to their Battle.net friend lists, facilitating their social gaming experience on the service.”

Blizzard seems to think this will make it “easier than ever to connect with friends on Battle.net and play StarCraft II and future Blizzard Entertainment games together.” What it probably means is that your 10 year old cousin can laugh at your pitiful ladder stats and the love interest you have been e-stalking will see you for the n00b you really are.

Apparently the Facebook integration will be available for testing through the beta program soon. Blizzard also hinted at that there will be “other Facebook-related features on Battle.net” in the future, so hold your breath for the announcements.
