South Park mocks next-gen console war

14 November 2013

Ever with their finger on the pulse of the socio-political landscape, South Park’s writers have turned their latest parodific episode to the next-gen console war and the yearly barmy escapade of US Black Friday sales.

Season 17, episode 7 is titled “Black Friday”:

The dark days of winter are coming and that can only mean one thing: the fight to be the first in the mall on Black Friday has begun. The boys prepare to battle the crowds the day after Thanksgiving to get the best deal on the new gaming systems.

Never before has the next-gen console fanboy war been portrayed in such a heart-rending, brutally honest, and emotional way, as when told through the tale of a group of foul-mouthed 7th graders in the medium of paper-cut out animation.

It makes the whole thing seem so futile.

I also noticed that the kids seem to be dressed in the garb they will don in the upcoming South Park RPG, Stick of Truth.

Check the clip below before the tale is lost to the dark mists of time.

Excellent! Was so hoping to hear Cartman utter his famous “Screw you guuuuys, I’m going home” after the standoff 😀
