Exciting Fallout 4 teaser site updates

Fallout teaser news

Some new Morse code sequences have been found on the teaser site that could possibly be strongly hinting at a Fallout 4 reveal on 11 December 2013. The backstory to the main campaign is more fleshed out now and tells us what happened in Vault 119 and who killed the Overseer and all its inhabitants.

On 2 December a new Morse code message was uploaded to the site and appears to be a message left by The Institute, as the filename for the MP3 contains the letters “TI”, which is possibly the Morse code shorthand for The Institute. The message reads as follows:

Calling Black Row Out Station. Ground is safe. Too Late. Level 4 breach. No survivors, 899 corpses. We are leaving Vault 119. Over, back to you.

On the same day, a page dump of the site revealed that a new page had been added to it, but was not directly navigable unless visited by typing in the correct URL. Visiting http://thesurvivor2299.com//VT119 begins a sequence of letters being typed into the screen, followed by an access denied error message, ostensibly displayed on a computer someone was trying to hack into.

The page hides another Cipher in the source code that reads, “THEY DON’T KNOW WHAT’S COMING. IT’S A KEY TO THE GREAT GAME.

The site additionally now has descriptors for new HTML code that will prompt users to verify their age. There are also now redirects to Bethsoft.com and instead of 404 errors fans are now seeing 403 errors – this means that the website has content to display, but permissions forbid it from doing so.

On NeoGAF, fans have pored over the messages and code sequences to piece together. According to them, this is the timeline of events as set out by the Morse messages and the date codes in the names of the MP3 files that carried them.

23 October 2077 – The day of the Great War, which lasts two hours and ends with a nuclear tactical strike.

23 October 2077 – “Calling any station. Calling any station. Calling any station. This is Bridgeport. Please stand by.”

23 October 2077 – “Bridgeport, this is Concord MA, message: Quabbin Reservoir is hit, repeat, Quabbin Reservoir is hit, over.”

23 October 2077 – “National Catastrophe Relief Auxiliary Unit, Boston 314, 7 Emergency Message: NEW YORK STAGE 7 WASHINGTON STAGE 7 LOS ANGELES STAGE 7 AUSTIN STAGE 7 CHICAGO STAGE 7 NEW ORLEAN STAGE 7 LAS VEGAS UNKNOWN MIAMI STAGE 7 DALLAS STAGE 7 DENVER STAGE 7 SAN DIEGO STAGE 7 SAN FRANCISCO STAGE 7 BOSTO-”

At this point, Boston’s HQ was hit by a nuke and was unable to continue their transmission. Following the blast, the MIT labs close up their doors to protect scientists and the blast flattens half of Boston.

23 October 2077 – “Calling all stations, calling all stations, calling all stations, this is Vault Technician 2510730 one six emergency Vault-Tec shelter for survivors in Quabbin, number 119, repeat, emergency Vault-Tec shelter for survivors in Quabbin, number 119, over”

This is Vault 119 opening the doors to survivors of the blasts or people who could not secure a vault in time.

23 October 2077 – “Calling all stations, calling all stations, calling all stations. Boston is gone, I repeat, Boston is gone. No Hope. Frequency 3450 Return Transmission. Goodbye America.”

Vault 119 is alerted that the other stations in the Massachusetts area have fallen and closes its doors. The Nuclear Winter follows six days later according to timelines discussed in Fallout 3.

4 July 2299 – ”MY DEAR SISTER. I’M HEADING TO THE INSTITUTE. GOD KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS PLACE NOW. THIS OLD BASTARD WILL HELP US. HE MUST HELP US. –0321–”

A Vault 119 survivor, possibly the player, leaves the safety of his/her home to find out if The Institute still exists.

4 July 2299 – “THE INSTITUTE IS SEALED. THEY WON’T HELP US. I’M HEADING TO BLACK ROW. -NGQHT 5120-”

The survivor is denied entry by The Commonwealth and decides to venture to Black Row to find answers.

4 July 2299 – “Calling all stations, this is overseer 119 emergency enemy unknown, SOS. Vault 119 Quabbin 7667, repeat, SOS, Vault 119 Quabbin 7667 enemy unknown.”

All vaults have a four-digit code that allows access from the external airlock, 7667 would let the survivor back in.

4 July 2299 – “Calling all stations, this is Vault Overseer 119, anybody near Quabbin? SOS Vault door breach, repeat, SOS Vault door breach, enemy unknown, level 1, 2, and 3 gone, survivors on (service lift to OR in secure location) level 4”

4 July 2299 – “Calling all stations, this is Vault 119, SOS, Level 4 is under attack, Overseer is dead, repeat, SOS, Level 4 is under attack, Overseer is dead. We won’t make it.”

4 July 2299 – “Calling Black Row Out Station. Ground is safe. Too Late. Level 4 breach. No survivors, 899 corpses. We are leaving Vault 119. Over, back to you.”

By the time the attack takes place, the survivor has already reached Black Row and is too late to return.

4 July 2299 – An attempt to hack into the Overseer’s computer fails and marks the enemy as “Unknown”. A message left on the screen reads “THEY DON’T KNOW WHAT’S COMING. IT’S A KEY TO THE GREAT GAME”

In Fallout 3, players met a character called Desmond Lockheart in the Point Lookout DLC. Lockheart mentions that he will be travelling north to pursue “The Great Game” of geniuses and billionaires.

Oh come on, you can’t seriously be hyped for this, right? Right? Guys? Has the hype train left already?

Not sure if this means anything, but the “Fallout: New Vegas” Facebook page changed their name to “Fallout” a couple of days ago. Might just be coincidental timing.
