Xbox One cracks 2-million units sold

11 December 2013

18 days since launch on 22 November 2013, Microsoft has announced that it has sold through to consumers worldwide over 2-million Xbox One consoles.

At a claimed average of 111,111 units sold per day, Microsoft says this is a record-setting sales pace for the Xbox brand.

Team Green says that gamers have spent over 83-million hours playing games, watching TV, and using apps on the system.

39 million Xbox One achievements have been unlocked, and 595 million total Gamerscore racked up.

Over 1 million paid transactions have taken place, including digital games and video purchases.

“We continue to be humbled and overwhelmed by the positive response from our fans. We are thrilled to see sales of Xbox One on a record-setting pace, with over 2 million Xbox One consoles in homes around the world. Demand is exceeding supply in our 13 launch markets and Xbox One is sold out at most retailers,” said Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of strategy and marketing, Xbox.

By way of comparison, Sony claims 2.1-million PS4 units sold as of 3 December, while Nintendo’s Wii U, which launched in November 2012, has sold 3.91-million as of September 2013.
