Elder Scrolls Online: Xbox Live Gold subscription required

29 January 2014

A post over on the PlayStation blog has revealed that Bethesda’s upcoming Elder Scrolls Online MMO won’t require a PS Plus subscription.

A PS Plus subscription is generally required to access the multiplayer component of games on the PS4.

In an e-mail to Eurogamer, Microsoft confirmed that an Xbox Live Gold subscription will be required to play The Elder Scrolls Online on the Xbox One.

That’s in addition to the $14.99/€12.99/£8.99 per month subscription fee for Elder Scrolls Online. There will be discounts for buying game-time in bulk. There will also be a cost for the purchase of the base game, which offers 30 days access.

Sony also revealed that PS4 players will be split into EU and North American “mega-servers”, and there will be no cross-platform play between PC/Mac players.

Elder Scrolls Online will hit PC and Mac on 4 April 2014, with a PS4 and Xbox One launch expected in June 2014.
