No sign of PS Vita Slim in South Africa

30 January 2014

Sony has announced that its PS Vita Slim (PCH-2000 model) version of the handheld gaming console will be hitting the UK on 7 February at a price of £180 (±R3,300).

The PS Vita Slim was first revealed in September 2013 and went on sale in Japan in October 2013.

Ster Kinekor Entertainment, distributor of Sony products in South Africa, has said they have no information about the PS Vita Slim and its availability in SA at this point.

The PS Vita Slim is 41g lighter than its big brother, 3mm thinner, and has a 960×544 IPS LCD screen (a trade-off versus the original’s OLED screen).

1GB of storage has been included, only accessible when no memory card is inserted. A micro USB Type B port has been added, for charging via standard cables.

Battery life has also reportedly been improved, offering up to 6 hours versus the up to 5 hours of the original.

The original PS Vita will be phased out beginning January 2014.

Look they can slim down that mofo as much as they want to… it helps nothing if there are no decent titles for it.
