Call of Duty enters 3 year cycle with 3 developers

7 February 2014

Activision has revealed that the Call of Duty franchise will be rotating the strike on a 3-year cycle as Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games will each take turns to release a yearly CoD game.

Sledgehammer is up first, with its Call of Duty outing scheduled for 2014.

Activision said during an investor conference call on 6 February 2014, that the new 3-year cycle would allow the developers to focus on delivering a better product, and – of course – work on cranking out more DLC and micro-transaction content for the games.

Details on the next Call of Duty title have not been revealed.
