Watch Dogs will be launching in Ubisoft’s financial year Q1 2014 (April – June) for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Windows PC. The Nintendo Wii U version will be getting a later release.
During an investor call on 10 February, Ubisoft announced that the release of Watch Dogs continues as planned for the first quarter of 2014.
A lot is riding on the success of the open-world hacktion-adventure game, which was delayed from its previous November 2013 launch, harming Ubisoft’s financial results and worrying investors at the time. Ubisoft said that the game needed more polish.
Ubisoft didn’t clarify much when asked about the Wii U delay, only saying that they do not plan on releasing the Wii U version until a later date.
Could this delay be linked to the lower than expected sales of the Wii U gaming console, and indicate its low-priority with multi-platform developers?
Watch Dogs is poised to be Ubisoft’s next ground-breaking IP, featuring all manner of open-world hacking exploits in a lovingly crafted futuristic Chicago.
