Skyrim amulet helps man propose

8 April 2014

Forget proposing marriage with a diamond ring, the Amulet of Mara from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the only way to woman’s heart.

Skyrim player Sarah Briody – the bride to be – said her and her partner enjoyed playing the game together after she recently introduced him to the title. “I love watching him play because we both have very different game styles. We do play other multiplayer games together when we have the opportunity.”

Briody ‘s partner decided that their shared love for the game was the perfect platform to ask her to be his wife. His “weapon of choice” was the Amulet of Mara,  a game item used to unlock various romantic dialogues, one of which is the option to wed other characters.

“He gave me the amulet and while I recognised what it was, it didn’t really click as to what it was,” she said. “I put it on and he started to smile from ear to ear. Then he said: ‘Is that an Amulet of Mara? I’m surprised someone like you isn’t spoken for’.”

“Then it finally registered that he was proposing! He got down on one knee and slipped the ring on my finger.”

She said yes.
