Following last week’s news that global PC shipments were down for the eighth straight quarter, we can reveal which PC manufacturers are bucking the trend and dominating the international pre-built unit market.
Below is a table displaying which vendors performed best in the first three months of 2014, and by what margin they have increased their share, according to research firm Gartner.

Lenovo experienced the strongest growth, with a 10.9% increase to 12,907,344 units, while the Acer Group took the biggest knock, losing 14.8% of its market share.
“The PC market continued to be tough for many vendors. Economies of scale matter tremendously in this high-volume, low-profit market, which is forcing some vendors, such as Sony, out of the market. In contrast, all of the top five vendors, except Acer, registered year-over-year shipment growth.”
“The top thee vendors — Lenovo, HP and Dell — have all confirmed the importance of the PC business as part of their overall business strategies,” said Gartner.
