Resident Evil 2 gets an unofficial facelift

26 April 2014

Resident Evil 2 fan, Rod Lima has recreated key sections of Capcom’s classic survival horror to play in the style Resident Evil 4.

The remade version is not only graphically superior, but does away with the original game’s fixed camera angles, replacing them with 3D environments.

Lima borrowed environments and character models from RE4, then patched in new inventory and weapon systems. Sound effects and cutscenes from the original Resident Evil 2 have also been merged in.

“I’m not planning on doing a Resident Evil 2 remake. I made this only to see some code actually working… and as the result was good,” said Lima. “It is fun to walk around in Raccoon City, RE4 style.”

You can take a look at the sections of RE2 that Lima has remade in the videos, below.
