E3: Sony announces PSN subscription – PlayStation Plus

Sony last night revealed the details behind their much talked about premier PSN service.

Dubbed PlayStation Plus, PSN users will soon be able to opt in to the premier service. Sony promises that this will not affect regular PSN users, and there will be no loss of functionality for those who don’t want to pay.

For $49.99 (R380) per year, or $17.99 (R140) for 3 months, PSN users can be upgraded to PlayStation Plus users. This will grant them access to exclusive content from the PlayStation store, as well as exclusive demo access, discounts on PSN games, free extra content, and more unspecified “enhanced functionality.”

PlayStation Plus will go live later this month.
