Take-Two makes bank as GTA 5 continues to sell

14 May 2014

Take-Two Interactive – owners of 2K Games and Rockstar Games – is reaping the sweet rewards of Grand Theft Auto 5’s success, banking over $2.4 billion (R24.7 billion) in revenue in its 2014 fiscal year.

GTA 5 has largely contributed to Take-Two’s healthy bank balance, selling 33 million units to date and exceeding $1 billion (R10.3 billion) in sales.

The company also divulged sales figures for its other popular games as part of its year end financial results.

  • Borderlands – 9 million units
  • Civilization V – 5 million units
  • BioShock Infinite – 6 million units

Take-Two said its sport games franchise was also performing well, and the upcoming NBA 2K15 (due out on October 7 2014) and WWE 2K15 (due out in 2015) would continue that trend.
