Xbox 360 “Stealth” quieter, cooler, uses less power

25 June 2010

PCPerspective has taken apart and dissected Microsoft’s new Xbox 360 “Slim” console, and unsurprisingly found it to be a cooler, quieter and more power efficient console than the older model.

The biggest difference is the new single chip CPU/GPU hybrid processor that is being manufactured using a new 45nm fabrication process. This is what makes the console so much more efficient.

A reported 30%-40% less power is consumed, and due to there being less power running through it, it is naturally cooler, and therefore quieter.

Be sure to check out PCPerspective’s full feature for a closer look at the differences between the two consoles.
