Xbox One pre-orders open in SA

If you’ve been salivating in anticipation of the Xbox One launch in South Africa on 23 September 2014, fret not, local retailers have finally opened up pre-orders for Microsoft’s new console.

We say “new”, ignoring that it will reach our shores almost a year after its launch over in the States, of course.

Technophiles and gamers can now pre-order the Xbox One from BT Games, Takealot.com, Dion Wired and AnimeWorx.

The standard 500GB console without Kinect and a single controller will sell for R6,299, while the addition of a Kinect will set you back R7,999 for the total package.

The console will be sold in two new bundles, each offering two free bundled games (digital copies) and a free 14-day Xbox Live Gold trial.

Currently, only Dion Wired has the official game bundles listed on its site, but most online retailers have the console open for pre-order around the same price point – so be sure you know what you’re getting before booking your piece of Microsoft property.

At the time of writing, Kalahari.com had not opened up pre-orders for the Xbox One, while CNA offers an Xbox One Pre-Order deposit voucher for R500.00.

BT Games has opened up pre-orders, but does not provide a listing price. The gaming retailer notes on its site, however, that all pre-orders are for in-store collection only, with no option of postal or courier deliveries.
