Star Wars: The Old Republic goes into public testing

12 July 2010

Bioware has announced that their upcoming Star Wars themed MMORPG, Star Wars: The Old Republic, is currently in a “game testing” period. While most developers would simply call it a beta, Bioware is resisting using the word.

Lucky testers have been notified via email, and the testing is being conducted to “provide valuable feedback to help us tune particular areas of gameplay and begin the process of balancing and tweaking our content,” the announcement explains. Sounds A LOT like a beta to me.

The first wave consists solely of North American testers, and testers from other regions are expected to be included “later.”

It’s not too late to throw your name into the hat if you’re interested in being part of the Star Wars: The Old Republic “testing” program.
