League of Legends season one cinematic

13 July 2010

League of Legends, the Aeon of Strife inspired free-to-play multiplayer game from Riot Games, which boasts a development team involved in the original WarCraft III custom map Defense of the Ancients, is gearing up for ‘Season One’ of competitive play.

To celebrate, Riot Games has released a pretty cool cinematic to herald the launch of Season One, which kicks off on 13 July 2010.

Along with the launch comes a few updates to the game; Draft Mode, Ranked Games and Ladders. To compete in ranked games, Summoners must be level 20 or above. Having competed in some ranked games, players will have their rating displayed on public ladders.

Draft mode employs techniques that will be familiar to DotA and HoN players: team captains will each be able to ban any two Champions before proceeding to pick Champions for their team, alternating picks between the two teams.

If you haven’t experienced League of Legends in action, then head on over to the site and check it out – it is free after all.
