Fable III scraps Kinect support

5 August 2010

Lionhead overlord and general industry guru Peter Molyneux has told Endgadget that Fable III will not support Microsoft’s motion control device, Kinect. At least not at launch, as was previously planned.

The reason given is that Fable III’s Kinect implementation simply was not of a high enough standard to be included in the final release.

Joystiq got in touch with Microsoft, who said that while Molyneux is still a big proponent of their new motion tech, he just doesn’t think it would be of value in Fable III at “this time.”

Fable III is due for release on Xbox 360 on October 26, while the PC release has been pushed back, with no specific release date confirmed just yet.

Kinect is expected to be launched in early November 2010.
