Blizzard head honcho Michael Morhaime has confirmed that the third expansion pack for the wildly popular MMO, World of Warcraft, is still on track to be released at the end of this year. Incidentally, Blizzard said exactly the same thing about StarCraft II last year at around this time.
Speaking at Blizzard’s Q2 2010 earnings call, Morhaime gave the following statement: “I’d like to point the release of Cataclysm being our best expansion yet for World of Warcraft. Although an exact release date has not yet been announced, we are on track to launch the expansion by the end of the year.”
General bad guy Bobby Kotick also spoke at the conference, revealing that Blizzard has enjoyed its most profitable year ever so far, and this is only likely to improve as StarCraft II continues to sell well, and Cataclysm is set to follow in the footsteps of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Liche King which is on record for the fastest selling PC game of all time.
