The Pirate Bay goes down

The Pirate Bay is down after a raid on 9 December 2014 where servers and computers were seized by the Swedish police.

“The Pirate Bay portal went down Tuesday morning after Swedish police raided a server room in Stockholm over alleged copyright violations,” Wired reported.

The publication reported that other file-sharing sites including EZTV, Zoink, and Torrage also went down. It is, however, not certain whether raids were also behind this downtime.

Numerous other sites, including The Pirate Bay forum Suprbay.org, the Istole tracker, Bayimg.com, and Pastebay.net are also down.

Torrentfreak reported that the raid “targeted a data center in Nacka which is built into a mountain. This suggests that the raid took place at Portlane.”

Torrentfreak quoted Paul Pinter, a national coordinator for IP enforcement, as saying: “there has been a crackdown on a server room in Greater Stockholm. This is in connection with violations of copyright law.”
