Ubisoft has announced Fighters Uncaged, a new fighting game that will be available worldwide in November 2010 exclusively for the Xbox 360 Kinect. The game is being developed by AMA Studios.
According to the Ubisoft press release: “Fighters Uncaged will deliver players the excitement of real fighting competitions, in addition to teaching players mixed martial arts techniques.”
“Fighters Uncaged is the first motion fighting game for Microsoft Kinect,” according to Adam Novickas, U.S. director of marketing at Ubisoft. “Fighters Uncaged requires players to get out of their seat to engage in a controller-free full-body combat game and experience the authentic fighting style of Thai boxing.”
As far as gameplay features go, players will be able to deliver 70 different martial arts strikes, including “devastating” voice activated super strike combos. There will be 21 different fighting environments such as rooftops, dark alleys, gritty city docks and an abandoned church in which players can fight against a diversity of opponents.
Players will be able to upgrade their fighting character as they go along by unlocking new skills. A jump-in multiplayer feature allows gamers to take down enemies with their friends.
From a technical standpoint, it will be interesting to see how this title performs as it will be one of the first full featured fighting games to make use of the Microsoft Kinect motion capture input device.
Judging from the screenshots, it actually looks like quite a bit of motion will need to be employed by gamers. Undoubtedly the Kinect is going to be the catalyst for a whole new wave of console related TV damage insurance claims.
