The world’s biggest online FPS battle

28 January 2015

You think 64 players on a map is hardcore? Forget about it – if you want to play in a proper online FPS battle you have to have at least 1,000.

PlanetSide 2 set a new Guinness World Record this past weekend for the most simultaneous online players in a single FPS battle when it clocked up 1,158 players.

The game, which took place on 24 January, saw players from all three of the game’s factions take part in the battle on the Jaeger competitive server.

The event was organised by fan community PlanetSide Battles in partnership with Sony Online Entertainment, and beat the previous online FPS record of 999 players in Man vs. Machine.

With 53,729 kills, 3,822 team kills, 31 bases captured, and 5,089 vehicles destroyed, it sounds like only the most skilled survived.
