Numerous affordable uncapped fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) products were launched in recent months, which offer better value for money than some of Telkom’s ADSL and VDSL products.
In the most recent development, Fibrehoods unveiled its 100Mbps uncapped FTTH pricing for Craighall and Craighall Park – R1,400 per month.
This is significantly cheaper than competing products from Cool Ideas and Cybersmart which are priced at R2,899 per month.
However, Cybersmart Lightspeed has launched more affordable 10Mbps, 20Mbps, and 50Mbps uncapped FTTH products to serve the lower end of the market.
Cybersmart is currently offering its fibre-to-the-home service in around 50 complexes residential flats.
Cybersmart CEO Laurie Fialkov said that their FTTH products offer superior value to ADSL or VDSL because it is symmetrical (same download and upload speeds) and the low contention ratios.
Cybersmart’s new uncapped fibre-to-the-home prices compete favourably with Telkom’s ADSL products, as shown in the table below.
