Level-5’s fourth cross-media project is all about the Nomz

The Snack World

While we’re not usually ones to talk about Level-5 Studios’ cross-media projects, with some of them having trouble in the translation or even making it to the West for that matter, The Snack World just looks so darn charming.

With its cute characters, Blue Dragon-like aesthetic and Level-5’s talent, The Snack World should be a solid title. According to Gematsu, “The Snack World will encompass a 3DS, iOS, and Android game, full CG TV anime, manga, Takara Tomy toy line, and nationwide movie release.” We’d recommend you check out this CG trailer for an example of what to expect, at east from the anime and movie.

As far as the games are concerned, which is what we’re most interested in, it’s meant to be a hyper casual fantasy, and will link to the toy line via NFC technology. Using one of the collectible chain-like items, Jara, you’ll unlock new items in-game. It’s a great idea, but will likely mean an expensive game to invest in.

We like the idea of a Dragon Quest-like game that’s about snacks and has NFC items, but we’d have to see more before we make a call.
