Today marks the two year anniversary of the release of Age of Empires 2 HD. In that time, players have accrued a staggering 50 million hours of playtime. That’s a fairly impressive statistic for what is essentially a 16 year old game, and a testament to just how good Age of Empires 2 was and still is, even if it hasn’t aged as well as some other titles. But that’s set to change according to MS Ryz0n, a member of the game’s development team.
Not only has a newly released update, 3.9, improved a number of performance and gameplay elements, but the development team plan to add new content as well. The same team that brought the recent expansion to light The Forgotten, sometimes called Forgotten Empires, are working on an all new expansion they’ve yet to detail.
Expect more details to be brought out throughout this part of the year, and perhaps a release too. It’s hard to say, but at the very least there’s a new Age of Empires 2 HD update to keep you occupied.
