Project CARS will support resolutions up until a staggering 12K

Project CARS

Community and developer funded hyper racer Project CARS was always going to be technically impressive. It’s built from the ground up to be a graphical beast, particularly on the PC, but we had no idea that its developer, Slightly Mad Studios, was this ambitious.

According to Project CARS’ FAQ, it will support resolutions of up to 12K – that means three 4K monitors and an absurd amount of pixels. And to run the game at that resolution you’re going to need a lot more grunt than the game’s recommended requirements suggest.

MINIMUM SPEC
CPU – 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400, 3.0 GHz AMD Phenom II X4 940
GPU – nVidia GTX 260, ATI Radeon HD 5770
Memory – 4Gb RAM, 1Gb VRAM

RECOMMENDED SPEC
CPU – 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7 3700, 4.0 GHz AMD FX-8350
GPU – nVidia GT600 series, AMD Radeon HD7000 series
Memory – 8Gb RAM, 2Gb VRAM

Keep in mind that 12K resolution support is strictly for the PC version of the game. Xbox One and PS4 owners will have to be satisfied with 900p and 1080p respectively.

Project CARS will release for the PC, Xbox One and PS4 mid-May, though we may see an Early Access release for Steam sooner than that.
