LucasArts admits to previous PS3 development shortcoming

9 September 2010

The Xbox 360 version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed sits with a 73.88% average score on Game Rankings, only slightly better than its PS3 counterpart, which currently has a 72.69% rating. The PS3 version was however notorious for its shoddy controls and numerous bugs.

A LucasArts developer has admitted that the development team behind Star Wars: The Force Unleashed wasn’t “up to speed” with their PS3 development skills, which was probably fairly obvious to anyone who played the PS3 version.

Speaking in an interview with CVG, LucasArts producer Cameron Suey said: “There were times, especially on the original Force Unleashed, where on the PS3, we weren’t quite up to speed.”

With The Force Unleashed II in the development pipeline, Suey said “Now I think [the 360 and PS3 development processes] are so hand-in-hand that every change we make is tested on both at the same time, side-by-side throughout the whole thing.”

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II is due for release in South Africa on 26 October 2010, for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
