PolarFluke hosted its second StarCraft II tournament over the weekend. The online event was a success, and saw 68 of SA’s best StarCraft II players turn up on day one to battle it out.
The group stages alone saw 117 matches being played, each consisting of up to three games in a best of three format. According to tournament coordinator Mathew Merks, there were very few upsets in the group stages.
The knockout stages were quite different, with two local favourites, Dreamer and Kreeflewer being knocked out in round 16. This indicates that there are new players coming through, and is promising for the future of StarCraft II in SA.
The final came down to a match between two of SA’s best; Richard “ANGRYAFRICAN” West and Travis “AsIfImTrying” Weedon (AKA Shase). AsIfImTrying took a commanding lead, winning the first two games, but ANGRYAFRICAN came back strong winning three games in a row to take the win 3-2.
MyGaming sponsored a cash prize for the event, and ANGRY AFRICAN will receive R700, while AsIfImTrying will receive R300.

Congratulations to the winners, and thanks to PolarFluke for organizing another successful event.
