Darksiders PC pre-orders receive free games

21 September 2010

THQ has announced that certain digital distribution platforms for their upcoming PC release of Darksiders will be providing free games to anyone who pre-orders. The action-adventure title will be available to play from 12.01am EST on 23 September (06.01am in South Africa, 23 September), so get your orders in before the launch date if you want a free game.

Gamers who opt to get their copy of Darksiders from Steam will receive a free digital copy of Titan Quest: Gold Edition.

Purchasing Darksiders from Direct 2 Drive, gamers will receive a free digital copy of Red Faction Guerrilla. South African’s will be pleased to know that this is one of the few games on D2D that is available to South African consumers.

Released earlier this year for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Darksiders was well received by gaming critics. PC gamers interested in the impending apocalypse should read MyGaming’s Darksiders review, covering the console versions. The PC version release has been delayed a number of times, but it is finally polished and ready for a 23 September release.

The free games on offer are pretty enticing, and just about the only downside to purchasing digitally that I can think of, is that collector types will miss out on the sweet Darksiders Hellbook Edition.

Developed by THQ’s in-house studio Vigil Games, the PC version of the game has been crafted to deliver the same great art style and dynamic gameplay of the console version, combined with reworked controls to take advantage of the keyboard and mouse.

Travis Plane, Vice President of Global Brand Management commented, “THQ is dedicated to delivering great product to the PC gaming audience so Vigil Games has pulled out all the stops to make this title every bit as satisfying as its console counterpart. We hope the PC audience enjoys battling the forces of heaven and hell in this great game.”
