Where could Ubisoft take Assassin’s Creed next?

Assassin's Creed

The Assassin’s Creed franchise has had its highs and lows, but we know that in spite of its faults, every year we will see it again in a new place.

With Assassin’s Creed likely to continue into the foreseeable future, we thought we’d ask ourselves: what possible locations might we find the Assassins in future titles?

Where could it take us, and who might we meet along the way? As a long-running Assassin’s Creed fan, I put these possible eras together and cooked up a few scenarios.

China – 13th century

Assassin's Creed Potential Locations - China 13th Century Genghis Kahn

Leader and founder of the great Mongol Empire, Genghis Kahn, led the Mongol Empire to the conquest of most of Eurasia.

Invading the Western Xia and Jin dynasties, he brought ruin to cities as he rolled out mass massacres of civilian populations.

He successfully led his Templar rulers as he slowly took over the Central Asia and, ultimately, China. Genghis Kahn met his demise mysteriously by the hands of a rebel group of Assassins.

China seems like the most ideal setting for an Assassin’s Creed title. Vast rural villages with gorgeous tropical mountains to climb and a strong historical culture to explore are just some of this locale’s strengths.

The October Revolution – 1917

Assassin's Creed Potential Locations - October Revolution

The October Revolution was a political revolution that played a major part in the Russian Revolution of 1917.

Taking place after the February Revolution in the same year, the October Revolution in Petrograd overthrew the Russian Provisional Government and gave power to the soviets, who were dominated by the Bolsheviks.

This movement brought about the Russian Civil War and the creation of the Soviet Union.

This setting would revive the active war role that we last saw in Assassin’s Creed III. Aiding the army, controlling forces and being a Russian bad-ass at the same time.

Although this era was stark and bleak, it holds the potential to be a truly great Assassin’s Creed setting.

Future 5015

Assassin's Creed Potential Locations - The Future

In a world where the Templars are in control and science and development rules over the people, history is hushed, and the poor and rich are forcibly segregated into various living quarters.

The league of Assassins are building a silent army to take down the Templars that have gained control over the world. Slowly, they aim to bring balance back an equality many have never known.

Just imagine the possibilities, a huge city full of enormous and impossible buildings, flying cars and potentially even a space scenario.

Our assassin will be equipped with an enhanced super suit allowing for longer jumps, faster climbs, gliding, unbelievable finesse and strength, and insane parkour.

The future Assassin’s Creed would be a huge turning point for the series, and I doubt they will ever go back after that.

The Roman Empire – BCE

Assassin's Creed Potential Locations - The Roman Empire

Julius Caesar, the man destined to rule the Roman Empire, murdered. Cleopatra, committed suicide by means of a snake bite. It’s all too… coincidental.

As Julius Caesar and Cleopatra joined forces and brought about the Battle of the Nile, their Templar reign grew.

To protect history and everything the Assassins Brotherhood stood for, they had to manufacture false demises. They needed to fool the world into believing that these leaders’ deaths were accidents and results of a cruel fate.

To set Assassin’s Creed during the fall of Caesar would bring about an opportunity to touch on an era that changed religion, social standards and more.

Egypt – 13th century

Assassin's Creed Potential Locations - Egypt

During the 13th century, Egypt was controlled by the Ayyubid Dynasty.

Led by its leader Saladin, the Ayyubid Dynasty had a good run in power, but this soon ended when the Mongols entered the scene. Together with the Mamluks, the Ayyubids fought to drive out the Mongol threat.

The thing is, the Mongols were Templars that needed to take control to find the Apple of Eden.

It was all a gimmick in order to rule in the future. The Assassins stayed hidden in the side lines as they slowly took down the rulers one by one.

So that’s what I thought up, what about you?

Its about time Assassins Creed headed into WW1 for a game and then WW2 for another. So many prominent figures died in that era they could easily write an Assassins vs Templar plot into the era.
