Wacky Japanese Dead Rising 2 TV spot

5 October 2010

How would you advertise Dead Rising 2 to a Japanese gaming market which must be pretty jaded with the psychedelic, in-your-face style typically associated with Japanese television culture? You make a parody infomercial – with zombies – obviously!

Dead Rising 2 was released around the globe this weekend. The game introduces a new protagonist, Chuck Greene, an ex-motocross champion and loving father, who must find a constant supply of anti-zombie-parasite medication Zombrex for his young daughter Katey. The game is set in the Fortune City resort and casino complex, which was inspired by Las Vegas.

A new gameplay feature enables Chuck to craft a huge array of crazy weapons by combining items he finds in the environment, often with hilariously gory and destructive results.

The 30 second spot is below, and it’s pretty good for a giggle, even if you don’t understand Japanese.

There was also an ‘outtakes’ clip. Can anyone figure out the words to that oh-so-catchy theme tune?

MyGaming expects to have a Dead Rising 2 review up soon, so keep your eyes peeled. Until then, you can check out our Dead Rising 2 preview and the Dead Rising 2 launch trailer.
