Top 5 modern Limited Edition consoles

20th Anniversary PS4

Some modern limited edition consoles are beautifully made and make you want to own them from the first time you lay eyes on them.

It’s sort of the point, really; otherwise, why would you buy one?

That said, we can’t help but love ’em, nuture ’em and collect ’em all.

So, we thought it would be great to take a journey through some of the limited edition consoles we have loved throughout the years.

Stars Wars Kinect Xbox 360

Star Wars Kinect Xbox 360

The Xbox 360 Limited Edition Kinect Star Wars bundle is an amazing piece of fan service.

The console came with both the console and Kinect sensor in R2-D2 colours. The controller, however, was as gold as C-3PO’s posterior.

The only addition that isn’t worth anyone’s time is the Kinect Star Wars Xbox 360 game, which is truly abysmal.

This Xbox 360 is truly visually appealing and really looks like its part of R2-D2 in some shape or form. We wish we had this in our collection.

20th Anniversary Edition PS4

PS4 20th Anniversary

This PS4 is a thing of beauty and celebrates 20 years of PlayStation with a limited edition bundle aptly named by Sony as PlayStation 4 20th Anniversary Edition.

The sleek and iconic grey tone of the original PlayStation is reinterpreted into this limited edition PS4.

Each PS4 bundle was uniquely numbered, and restricted to a production run of 12,300 units.

The console, itself, has some nice little touches with the original coloured PlayStation logo, an individually numbered etched aluminum plate.

All the PlayStation symbols can be found along the body of the console and the DualShock 4 controller.

It really is a nifty limited edition if you can manage to get one.

One Piece Limited Gold Edition PS3

One Piece Limited Edition PS3

Fully titled the One Piece Kaizoku Musou Gold Edition, this limited edition was packed with the One Piece: Kaizoku Musou PS3 game and was only released in Japan.

If you don’t already know, One Piece is a fantastic pirate-based anime which is immensely popular among anime fans. This PS3 is One Piece fan heaven.

The console features the main character of One Piece name Luffy in a white silhouette with a map of the world in the background. The One Piece logo is also emblazoned on the PS3.

The console itself is a brilliant gold, as is the controller too. This would be a great collector’s piece for fans of the anime and PS3 aficionados too.

Gunmetal Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3

MGS 4 PS3 Limited Edition

The original fat PS3 wasn’t a thing of beauty, to be perfectly honest. Some gamers even compared it to a printer.

But this Limited Edition Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3, a Konami website exclusive, really changed our minds with its gun grey metal sheen.

With an accompanying DualShock 3 controller, this console makes the old fat PS3 look far more appealing.

The console originally came with a 40GB hard drive, which was quite small when compared to other PS3 variants at the time which came with an 80GB hard drive.

However, the gun metal grey look of this PS3 really sells it for us.

Limited Edition Halo 4 Xbox 360

If you’re a Halo fan, then the Limited Edition Halo 4 Xbox 360 must have been right up your alley.

The console features a really cool colour scheme consisting of greys, blues and whites all together in a schematic reminiscent of a spaceship design or even the Halo rings themselves, from the Halo universe.

What was great about this bundle is that it came with two controllers and a 320GB hard drive, which was great at the time.

Along with the blue LED light in the power button, this Xbox 360 is just great to look at.

So what did you think of our list of modern limited edition consoles? We certainly think there is a striking collection of modern consoles here.

If you have any you would love to add, why not share your recommendations in the comments section below.
