It was not too long ago when EA revealed in their financial report for 2015 to the world that a new Mirror’s Edge game was in the works, and with a 2016 release date no less.
Slowly, hype has been building up as more details became apparent for what we now know as Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst, instead of Mirror’s Edge 2, as previously speculated prior to E3 this year.
Yesterday, we finally received a gameplay teaser for Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst, which while very brief gives us a taste of what is to come for Gamescom 2015.
The clip was released on the Mirror’s Edge official Twitter account, and can be seen below.

What is very noticeable at first is the visual upgrade from the previous game, as the city sky-line now is much more dynamic, visually stunning and captivating, and it truly appears that DICE are already doing a great job.
Despite the brief length of the clip, which comes in at a running time of a mere 23 seconds, the world of Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst really feels alive and breathing.
The level of sophistication found here is incomparable to the original game. It feels as if we will once again receive a game which is fresh, both creatively and visually, from EA and DICE.
More than that, the world looks massive and seems to encourage exploration, but perhaps most importantly is the sense of atmosphere and anxiety as Faith sensed something close by, perhaps stalking her, and we immediately felt on edge.
If that’s what Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst can do in under half a minute, imagine what the game in its entirety will manage.
If you’re wondering when we will get more gameplay, EA revealed via a Tweet, over the weekend, that we will be getting more Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst gameplay goodness at Gamescom. This, in itself, is great news now that our gaming appetites are out of control.
With this news, Gamescom 2015 just became far more interesting and we can’t wait to see what Mirrror’s Edge: Catalyst brings to the table.
