Valve has announced that Steam will be down this afternoon, with planned maintenance taking place between 4AM PST until around 8AM PST.
This means that Steam should have gone down at 1PM local time, as Valve confirmed that downtime commenced as planned. It should remain down until about 5PM.
During the downtime it will be impossible to play any games on Steam, although you will be able to play games in single player mode. “The Steam Store, Steam Community, matchmaking, and leader boards will be down for the duration of this event,” said Valve’s MikeBlaszczak.
Fortunately, the downtime should end just in time for the commencement of most gamers’ evening gaming sessions.
