Star Wars Battlefront’s beta begins the fight in Early October

Star Wars Battlefront - Beta Period

We all wanted a beta period for Star Wars Battlefront, and it seems like we’ll be getting it.

A beta period prior to a game’s release is a fairly normal event, particularly in the last few years.

If conducted correctly, a beta provides relatively vital feedback regarding a game’s performance as well as greatly increasing the odds of weeding out any technical issues that might be present.

In a number of cases, betas have allowed developers to tweak or adjust elements of a game that aren’t gelling with the audience or, alternatively, allow those interested in purchasing the title the opportunity to test it out and make a final decision.

For us, we believe that any multiplayer game that wants to take itself seriously these days needs a beta, even if only a brief one. DICE’s games are no exception.

Star Wars Battlefront promises to be an immense multiplayer experience, and given DICE and EA’s spotty past, particularly in the case of Battlefield 4, we insist on hands-on time with Star Wars Battlefront before purchasing it.

Moreover, should it play out the way we’re imagining it will, we’re prepared to invest a lot of time in Star Wars Battlefront, but in order for that to happen DICE needs to make sure everything is just right.

To do so, EA and DICE have announced a beta for all three platforms come October.

The beta will include the 40-player Walker Assault on Hoth as well as the co-op Survival Mission on Tatooine.

The beta will also include the opportunity to test out the companion app, an app available to both iOS as well as Android devices that allows you to monitor progression, stats, customise appearance as well as lead-out and will largely function much like Battlefield’s Battlelog.

It will also afford you the opportunity to win items for game come its release via a mini-game or two.

The official date of the beta will be announced in the coming weeks.
