A perusal of MTN’s online store, we’re talking this page in particular, lists an Xbox One and My MTNChoice 1GB contract for R559 for 24 months.
A quick calculation puts that at R13, 416, otherwise known as a heck of a lot of money, so it’s going to have to be quite the package to be worth it. Here’s what you get:

- 2x wireless controllers
- FIFA 16
- Forza 6
- Disney Infinity 2.0
- 12-month Xbox Live access
- Sh@reLink B593S LTE router
- 30GB of free data for the first 30 days
While their particular billing site is reporting 404 errors, last time we checked their My MTNChoice 1GB contract was R83 p/m (R1, 992 for 24 months).
Throw in R7, 999 from the approximate price of the Xbox One bundle and we’re looking at R9, 991. Even if we had to pay for the Sh@reLink router and 30GB of data (only accessible for the first 30 days), both of which MTN claims is a free addition, it still wouldn’t be worth it.
1GB of data, as well as the 1GB of Night Express data you get between 23:59 and 05:59, just isn’t enough to sustain any sort of online activity with the Xbox One.
An update or two and a couple multiplayer sessions later and you’d be out of data, and it’s certainly not worth it if it means purchasing an Xbox One bundle for around R11, 424.
You money would be better spent on purchasing a bundle from a standard retailer and grabbing yourself some DLS or fibre data.
And if you absolutely have to go wireless, we’d still recommend buying the bundle separate and simply purchasing an My MTNChoice bundle on the side.
