The Game Awards 2015 have been a very rewarding event so far. We’re so excited for the some of the upcoming games.

This has been especially true with the gameplay footage we’ve seen of Far Cry Primal and the announcement that Telltale Games will be working on a Batman game.

For us, one of the most exciting announcements had to be Rock Band VR  for the Oculus Rift.

When Palmer Luckey, the founder of Oculus VR, appeared on stage in his shorts and sandals we knew something epic was in the works. What he revealed was a partnership with Harmonix, which had been going on for years.

Like the name implies, Rock Band VR allows players to essentially play virtual instruments in a virtual environment, with the use of a guitar controller and the Oculus Rift headset.

But everything is happening within the game world, you’re playing the instruments and performing to a virtual audience who react to all your shredding and solos.

From the video above, you can see how immersive the experience should be. It really is pretty cool. The debut trailer showed off Dragon Force and their epic fast-as-hell metal track ‘Through The Fire and Flames‘ which is just perfect for this new version of  Rock Band.

Harmonix has other VR projects including one for Sony’s PlayStation VR, and that is a music visualisation experience called Harmonix Music VR.

However, the Rock Band brand coming to the Oculus Rift is big news.

Rock Band VR will likely be coming to us in the first quarter of 2016, according to Luckey.

There will also be other games coming to the Oculus Rift including ones from EVE Online studio CCP and Ratchet & Clank developer Insomniac.

So what do you think about Rock Band VR and all the possibilities it brings to the table?

Please share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
