EA will let you play nearly any game on Origin for $4.99 a month

The success of EA Access on the Xbox One has prompted the publisher to launch Origin Access for PC, which is much the same service, only different.

EA will charge you $4.99 (R82) a month, and in turn you’ll receive a few worthwhile perks:

Play More: Explore The Vault where members can download and play full versions of more than a dozen great PC games
Play First: Play EA’s PC games for a limited time before they’re released. All your stats and progress carry over if you decide to buy the game
Play for Less – Save 10% on your Origin purchases – from full games and DLC to content packs and more

Well, they’re letting others play “more than a dozen great PC games” on Origin for $4.99; Origin Access isn’t currently available in South Africa, nor is it available in a number of regions for that matter, but EA has said they’re working on it.

Unable to check Origin Access out for ourselves, Eurogamer has compiled a list of the games currently available on Origin Access:

As you can see, Star Wars Battlefront is one of those games, but it’s no surprise given how well it’s been selling.

EA is not about to quell the sales of their bestselling game just yet, but we’re sure it will be added in the future.

Either way, it’s an appealing prospect. Many of the games available on Origin Access are well worth sinking your teeth into, and the rest of the perks are icing on the cake, particularly Play First.

At just over $59 a year, the price of about one and a half games, it’s well worth considering.

Do keep in mind that cancelling your subscription will mean a loss of access to the games in the vault, but that’s hardly the biggest train smash. There are a couple detractors, however.

We would like to point out that if you’re doing it for the likes of Battlefield 3 and 4, the South African community has definitely waned since its release.

But perhaps the biggest detractor is that EA Access is a lot cheaper, and we mean A LOT. In fact, an EA Access yearly subscription will cost just R299.

It’s for that reason that we suggest you hold off on Origin Access until you’re able to purchase subscriptions a year at a time, for a big reduction in cost.
