Gran Turismo 5 local release, pricing, packages detailed

15 November 2010

Over the weekend Sony announced that the long awaited PlayStation exclusive racing simulator, Gran Turismo 5, will be released in Europe and the USA on November 24, 2010.

We got in touch with local distributor SterKinekor this morning, and can confirm that the game will launch locally on November 24, alongside the US and EU release.

The standard edition will carry a recommended retail price of R699, although core retailers such as Zaps, Take2 and Kalahari are listing it for just under R600.

A Signature Edition will also be available, and will sell at most retailers for R1,799, whilst the Collector’s Edition will cost R799.

GT5 is a console seller and if you have been waiting for GT5 to be released to pick up a PS3, then you probably want to check out the bundle, which includes the game as well as a 320GB PS3. The bundles carries a recommended retail price of R3,899, but again, it will be available for a bit less at certain stores.

Gran Turismo 5 is the fifth full release in the series, and has been developed by Polyphony Digital. Sony owns the publishing rights, and the series is a firmly entrenched PlayStation exclusive. Over 1000 cars are featured, along with 71 tracks and 26 locations.
