New Dark Souls III gameplay demonstrates a much improved movement system

Dark-Souls-3 - Dark Souls III-New gameplay

If these latest screenshots have anything to say about it, there’s no doubting that Dark Souls III is going to look spectacular.

But the reason any of us play a Souls game, as well as Bloodborne for that matter, is the gameplay – it’s just so rewarding.

Unfortunately, for as much hype as there is around Dark Souls III, we’ve yet to see much of anything. When we do, it’s usually of the same area and playthrough, or some slight variation thereof.

Now, there’s some new gameplay to wrap your brain around, archived from a FromSoftware stream. That does mean it’s in Japanese, but it’s no less appealing.

From the moment the player engages with the first enemy he encounters, it’s almost immediately apparent how much movement has been improved.

Rolling, sidestepping, strafing, dashing and everything in-between, it’s all been refined and polished significantly. It’s great news for us because one of our biggest grips with Dark Souls was iffy, unpolished player movement.

The demonstration of a bow was pretty neat too; it’s definitely a weapon we’re going to be taking advantage of.

Imagine this game at 4K. Screenshots of it at 4K don’t really tell the whole story, but we’re drooling in anticipation.
