Here’s what to expect from rAge Cape Town 2016

16 February 2016
rAge Expo Cape Town

The Really Awesome Gaming Expo (rAge) has announced that its Cape Town exhibition will support the local gaming industry in addition to showing the latest and greatest in the gaming and technology world.

Attendees will be able to find out about careers and opportunities available in the local gaming industry, and game developers can participate in the NAG jam.

Ticket prices are R100 for a day ticket, R250 for a weekend ticket, and R550 for a NAG LAN ticket.

Artists’ Alley and cosplay

rAge Cape Town will host the Artists’ Alley, where local independent artists can show off their work.

“From Cape Town’s hottest new anime and comic artists to old favourites, Artists’ Alley is the creative hot spot where rAgers can meet their favourite illustrators and buy some local artwork.”

As with its Johannesburg expo, cosplayers are encouraged to dress up as their favourite fantasy characters.

home_coded

NAG started “home_coded” in November 2012 to promote growth and help showcase the very best in local game development talent.

Visitors can meet and talk to local developers, play their latest games, and get information about game development in South Africa.

rAge provides floor space for home_coded at no cost, and has also secured stand construction and basic facilities like lighting and electricity at minimal cost.

NAG Jam

rAge said it will invite developers to create a semi-functional game around a specific theme within a tight time limit, just weeks before rAge.

The best games submitted are selected to be put on display at the NAG Jam/Intel stand.

Those interested in participating in the game jam can find more information on the NAG website.

Training colleges

In addition to the local game development talent on display, rAge will also host a variety of exhibitors that offer courses relevant to making video games.

These will include colleges and other institutions that offer animation and game development training.

A full list of rAge Cape Town 2016 exhibitors is available on the expo’s website.
