Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood prices compared

After some confusion as to the actual official local release date for Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, we have confirmation that various retailers around SA received their orders yesterday, and have begun selling the game today. 

Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood is the third release in the franchise, and follows the critically acclaimed Assassin’s Creed 2 which was released last year. Today it sees its official launch for PS3 and Xbox 360, while PC gamers will have to wait until early next year to get a taste of the action.

International reviews started pouring in earlier this week, and feedback has been extremely positive so far, with the game earning 9.5/10 from the notoriously difficult to please Destructoid, as well as high scores from CVG, Gamespot, Joystiq and more. It is currently sitting on a 91/100 aggregate with Metacritic and 92 (Xbox 360) on Gamerankings. 

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, like its predecessors, is a third person action-adventure game. The action takes place in Italy approximately 500 years ago. Players control the same protagonist from the first two games, Ezio, as he explores ancient cities, climbing buildings and evading/killing guards. 

This time around, Ezio will be able to recruit followers by destroying any of the twelve “Borgia towers” located around Rome, then rescuing disgruntled citizens from harassing guards. Ezio can then send followers on assignments around Europe, or call on them for support during missions. Players will have to train up their recruits, however, if they want them to become effective Assassins. 

The game seems like a safe day-one purchase for fans of the series, although, if the first two did not grab your attention, then it is unlikely that Brotherhood will change your mind.
