The IEC has launched an official educational “game” to run you through the voting process on election day.

Targeted primarily at younger voters, the app allows players to customise their own avatar and tackle a number of missions in order to successfully place their ballot.

Here is the game’s full description:

Whether you’re a seasoned pro at the voting station, or this is your first time casting your ballot, IXSA lets you walk in the shoes of a typical South African voter on Election Day.
Learn what’s needed to vote, when to vote and where to vote. Earn points for how election-savvy you are, and compete against other South Africans on this most important day in the country’s calendar and try and earn the top spot on the leader board.

FEATURES:

– CREATE and design your own character
– EXPLORE your environment and LEARN everything there is to know about Election Day in beautiful 3D graphics
– SCORE points as you figure the best and fastest way to be prepared
– FREE to play!

The app is free to download and can be found on the Google Play store and Apple App store. Early reviews (and screenshots) are not promising.

The Local Municipal Election date was recently set down for 3 August 2016.
